2015年度総会・第3回文化講座のご案内

早いもので、2015年度の活動も次回の文化講座が最後の機会となりました。余裕のないお知らせとなり、まことに申し訳ないのですが、3回目の文化講座とあわせて開催される総会につき、以下にご案内申し上げます。
今回の文化講座のテーマは、日露戦争時の俘虜収容所です。当時のロシア帝国には600万を越えるユダヤ人が暮らしており、そのうちの一部は、兵士としてロシア軍に参加し、俘虜となって日本までやってきています。ハーグ陸戦規定(1899)のポリシーに沿って収容されたロシア・ユダヤ人俘虜の経験は、非常に独特なものでした。今回は、バル・イラン大学のベル・コトレルマン准教授をお呼びして、ロシアと日本のはざまで浮かび上がってくるユダヤ人の特異な歴史的経験についてお話を伺います。本年度の締めくくりとなる総会と合わせ、皆様のお越しをお待ちしております。

要旨：
1904年から1905年にかけての日露戦争時、1700人を超えるユダヤ系のロシア兵が日本の俘虜収容所に収容されることになった。その際、収容所の管理側が彼らを他の戦争俘虜と隔離したために、数々のユダヤ人コミュニティが一様な仕方で組織されるということが起こった。平等主義的な原則によって取り扱われることで、ユダヤ人俘虜はロシア軍の中にいるよりも宗教的な自由を享受することになったのである。宗教的な祝祭や神学的な討論までもが可能であったこの逆説的な状況は、彼らの民族的な意識を育むことにもなり、またロシアに対する批判的態度にも繋がっていった。
Abstract of Lecture：
More than 1,700 Russian soldiers of Jewish origin were imprisoned in the POW camps in Japan during the Russo-Japanese war (1904-1905). Since the camp administrations separated them from other POWs, a number of homogeneous Jewish communities were organized. Being treated by their captors on egalitarian basis, the Jewish POWs enjoyed much more religious freedom than within the Russian army. Such a paradoxical situation, which included celebrations of religious festivals and even theological debates, has led to the growth of their national consciousness, as well as to a critical attitude towards Russia.
講師略歴：
2007年、ビロビジャン州立ショレム・アレイヘム大学ユダヤ文化東方研究所所長を経て、2011年より現職。ビロビジャンでは国際イディッシュ研究のサマースクールを創設・主催した。専門は東欧ユダヤ文化、イディッシュ・ヘブライ語文学、ユダヤ演劇・映画。近著にDisenchanted Tailor in “Illusion”: Sholem Aleichem behind the Scenes of Early Jewish Cinema (Bloomington, 2014), The Cultural World of Soviet Jewry (Raanana, 2014), In Search of Milk and Honey: The Theater of ‘Soviet Jewish Statehood’ (Bloomington, 2009), Bauhaus in Birobidzhan (Tel Aviv, 2008)等。
Profile of Lecturer:
Ber Kotlerman is Associate Professor at the Department of Literature of the Jewish People, Bar Ilan University, where in 2011-14 he served as Academic Director of the Rena Costa Center for Yiddish Studies. In 2007 he was appointed gratis as head of the Far Eastern Research Center for Jewish Culture by the Sholem Aleichem State University in Birobidzhan, Russia, where he founded and directed an International Summer Program for Yiddish Studies. His fields of interest include: Eastern European Jewish culture, Yiddish and Hebrew literature, Jewish theater and cinema. His recent works include Disenchanted Tailor in “Illusion”: Sholem Aleichem behind the Scenes of Early Jewish Cinema (Bloomington, 2014), The Cultural World of Soviet Jewry (Raanana, 2014), In Search of Milk and Honey: The Theater of ‘Soviet Jewish Statehood’ (Bloomington, 2009), Bauhaus in Birobidzhan (Tel Aviv, 2008) etc.
